I’m Mike. I run a small workshop where I build custom laser-engraved products, mostly for local businesses and Etsy. I started three years ago with a cheap K40 CO2 laser from eBay that barely worked, and I’ve since gone through five different machines trying to find the right setup.
That journey taught me more than I expected about what matters in a laser engraver and what’s just marketing fluff. Wattage alone doesn’t tell you much. Software compatibility can make or break your experience. And the difference between a diode laser and a CO2 laser isn’t just power. They’re fundamentally different tools for different materials.
I started this site because every “best laser engraver” article I found was written by someone who clearly never stood in front of one. The recommendations didn’t match what I experienced. The specs they highlighted weren’t the ones that actually matter for daily use.
Everything I write here comes from hands-on experience. If I haven’t used a machine, I’ll tell you. If a product has problems, I’ll describe them. Some links are affiliate links that earn me a commission at no cost to you.
